Isaiah’s 2U Modular Synthesizer

At some point during Fall 2025, I got bit by the DIY synth bug again.

The last time I tried to make a modular synthesizer (in early 2024), I was already interested in micro-ization. Thinking about micro semi-modular synths like the Bastl Kastl and the Korg Volca Modular. They use 2.54mm pitch breadboard-style wires as patch cables, and are 1 rack unit tall (meant to fit the intellijel 1u standard).

I may write more about this project at a later date. But I’d like to note its main flaw - most of the modules’ PCBs never actually functioned. I only share it here as context for the project on which this page actually focuses:

I considered my 1u synth to be mostly a failure, and I might not have come back to iterate on it had I not found the work of Moritz Klein. He has a collaboration with Erica Synths making Eurorack module kits, as well as youtube videos about how synthesizer circuits work.
